Critiques
Strictly speaking, the contrasts and levels are a bit overdone, but in this piece they fit quite nicely. I feel they help strengthen the contrast between death and life.
Your composition in this is excellent, and leaves me with nothing to say but the particular points I like about it. Those being; the glow of the sun is high and center, perhaps giving validation to the importance of life after death, over the eventuality of death. The cross imposes itself like a huge in-surmountable wall, a thing which must be dealt with, and the location fits nicely into the rule of thirds for composition. The braches along the side, as I mentioned before, re-inforce the notion of death, and add a clawing/reaching element as well. While nicely framing the border along that side and adding balance to the rest of the composition.
I find it impossible to give a strictly objective critique, and especially when dealing with death, all sorts of ideas creep in.
